As the official digital distribution partner of the 2010 Independent Games Festival (IGF), Direct2Drive is offering a great deal on 10 of the best independent games on the market in the Best of Indie Bundle Vol. 3<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The bundle is priced at US$29.95 (±R230) which really is a bargain considering the quality titles in the package, all of which would together cost US$134.50 (±R1 025) if bought separately. The special is on until 12 March 2010.<\/p>\n

All 10 were either winners or finalists at previous IGF events. If you have been thinking about trying any one of these titles, there’s no better time to dive into some indie gaming goodness – there’s something for everyone.<\/p>\n

AaaaaAAaaaAAAaaAAAAaAAAAA!!!: A Reckless Disregard for Gravity<\/strong><\/p>\n

Or ‘Aaaaa!’ for short, is a take on base jumping with colourful graphics and a catchy soundtrack. You dive from the top of skyscrapers and negotiate your way through a tangled maze of walkways, girders, and buildings on the way down, scoring points by brushing as closely as possible with bodily harm and spectators, and smashing through some glass panels for good measure (and extra points).
<\/strong><\/p>\n

Braid<\/strong><\/p>\n

Braid caused quite a stir when it hit the scene. Its refreshing gameplay consists of complex platformer puzzles which must be solved by manipulating the very fabric of time. Braid has an intriguing story which compels the player to discover more about the game world and its characters, charming art direction and a captivating soundtrack.
<\/strong><\/p>\n

Cogs<\/strong><\/p>\n

Cogs has been touted as one of the best puzzle games to emerge in quite a while. Players must manipulate a 3D mechanical device, and arrange steam pipes and various cogs to get the contraption working. The game features 50 levels and 3 gameplay modes to keep your brain ticking over.
<\/strong><\/p>\n

Crayon Physics Deluxe<\/strong><\/p>\n

This physics puzzler appeals to the child in us all with its graphics reminiscent of those halcyon days spent laying on the kindergarten floor scribbling away to our imagination’s content. Don’t be fooled by the childish appearance however, as this is a clever physics puzzler that has the player creating the physical objects themselves (with the aid of crayons of course).
<\/strong><\/p>\n

Gish<\/strong><\/p>\n

Gish makes good use of physics as the eponymous protagonist, a ball of tar, manipulates his viscous body to become sticky, heavy, slick, contracted or expanded. With this set of skills Gish must platform his way through numerous levels, avoiding traps and defeating enemies whilst on a quest to rescue his kidnapped lady friend.
<\/strong><\/p>\n

Machinarium<\/strong><\/p>\n

This charming adventure title tells the engaging story of a little robot living in a steam punk-esque robot world, questing to be reunited with his robot girlfriend. The player will have to solve a number of challenging puzzles as they explore the beautiful hand drawn world (with accompanying robot soundtrack), and ultimately uncover and foil a nefarious robot plot.
<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Maw<\/strong><\/p>\n

This action-adventure game follows the story of alien bounty hunter Frank, who has crash landed on a remote planet. For company Frank has Maw, a cute little purple blob in a cage, also known as ‘THE DEADLIEST ORGANISM IN THE UNIVERSE.’ Having formed a bond with Maw, Frank endeavours to escape the planet they are stranded on and evade the bounty hunters out to destroy Maw.
<\/strong><\/p>\n

Puzzlegeddon<\/strong><\/p>\n

Puzzlegeddon claims a mix of strategy, action and puzzle gameplay. The game supports up to six players over LAN or Internet for a puzzling twist. The puzzle element uses a fairly standard ‘match-five’ formula, with cascading reactions occurring as puzzle blocks are eliminated. Building up combinations allows players to launch attacks on opponents, hindering their progress or destroying their puzzle pieces.
<\/strong><\/p>\n

Osmos <\/strong><\/p>\n

Osmos places the player in charge of a ‘mote’ of undefined matter, whose purpose it is to absorb other motes drifting in the void of the game world. Osmos uses a physics based propulsion system to manoeuvre the mote. The relaxed ambient soundtrack and serene pace of gameplay makes for a tranquil exercise in primal domination.
<\/strong><\/p>\n

World of Goo<\/strong><\/p>\n

World of Goo has continually made news, first for its fun and quirky physics based gameplay, and then for the developers outspoken views on piracy, and their experiments in generating sales. The game charges the player with moving balls of goo, each with varying properties and personalities, through the game world by manipulating their abilities. Attractive graphics round off the World of Goo.
