Michael Bay has signed on to develop the big-screen adaptation of Ubisoft\u2019s Ghost Recon franchise.<\/p>\n
The famed action director, whose work includes Transformers, Bad Boys and Armageddon, will take on Tom Clancy\u2019s futuristic military story by teaming up with Warner Bros. and could be in the director’s chair.<\/p>\n
\u201cThese guys don\u2019t belong to any specific organization,\u201d said Jean-Julien Baronnet, CEO of Ubisoft Motion Pictures, speaking of the Ghost Recon team. \u201cThey\u2019re in the field where the U.S. troops are not supposed to be. It\u2019s a small team with very strong personalities and very specific skill sets. They\u2019re using weapons nobody knows about but it\u2019s very grounded. It\u2019s not sci-fi.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ubisoft wanted to work with Bay \u201cbecause he is a master at action movies,\u201d Baronnet said.<\/p>\n
Ubisoft already had produced a live action short for the franchise, \u201cGhost Recon Alpha,\u201d that was directed by Francois Alaux and Herve de Crecy, and produced by Ridley Scott, giving a sense of what a big screen feature could look like.<\/p>\n
