In a bizarre sort of way, the launch of God of War 3 has almost crept up on us, despite the fact that it is easily one of the most anticipated games of the year. The third iteration of one of the PS3’s flagship franchises promises to deliver an experience unlike anything seen before.<\/p>\n
The gameplay is expected to be similar to that of its predecessors’, relying on intense and vivid action sequences using a range of vicious weapons. The hero Kratos is controlled from a dynamic third person\/platform camera viewpoint, and much of the game will revolve around running and jumping about, smashing your way through mobs of enemies and taking on massive bosses.<\/p>\n
Kratos will be able to collect a range of interesting weapons and items, including Hermes’ boots which allow him to run up walls, and the Helmet of Hades which can make him temporarily invincible. One sequence from a gameplay video depicts Kratos tearing off the head of the God Helios. Kratos can then use Helios’ head as a lantern in dark places, or to blind undead enemies.<\/p>\n
A range of combo attacks, both new and old will make an appearance in God of War 3, and a maximum of 50 enemies will appear on screen at any given time. The game will also not feature any loading screens, and it will not require any sort of installation.<\/p>\n
The game is due to hit shelves on Wednesday March 17, although reports from various local forums suggest that certain Incredible Connection stores may have broken the street date already.
