The new product range is set to launch in the US on March 26, and will come in two flagship flavours, the GTX 480 and GTX 470.

GeForce GTX 480 : 512 SP, 384-bit, 295W TDP, US$499 (R3700)
GeForce GTX 470 : 448 SP, 320-bit, 225W TDP, US$349 (R2580)

If we directly convert the prices, then they do not look too bad. However, we can expect the prices to be significantly higher locally, due to the generally inflated state of local hardware pricing. AMD’s HD 5870 is around $100 cheaper than the GTX 480.

Also worth noting is the total power draw on the cards. While AMD’s HD 5870 uses around 188W under load.

At this stage, Fermi is not looking particularly appealing, with its high price and heavy power draw. We will have to wait for independently conducted real world benchmarks however, before we make any real conclusions.

Thanks to Subversion for the tip off

Discuss Fermi pricing in the forums

[7

post-5621","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-hardware
["GET
