When gamers learned that Modern Warfare 2 would not feature dedicated servers, it became apparent that it would not be suited to competitive gaming, at least not on PC. The fact that it is impossible to modify the game means that modders can not tweak it or optimise it for high level competitive gaming. This means that for now, Call of Duty 4 remains SA’s premier competitive PC game.<\/p>\n
However, shortly after the debacle began to subside, gamers started looking at Battlefield: Bad Company 2 as potentially the next big thing in competitive gaming. With Battlefield’s impressive multiplayer history, it looks like a good fit to take over from CoD4. The reality, however, is that it will be a while before we can say with any certainty whether this will be the case or not, and the Telkom CoD 4 league is looking stronger than ever this year with 60 teams playing.<\/p>\n
However, registrations for a Telkom Battlefield: Bad Company 2 league are now open, and given the current popularity with local online PC gamers, we expect it to an interesting tournament to watch.<\/p>\n
There are already 8 teams signed up, including two UberSoldaten teams, and teams from Electronic All Stars, Illusion Gaming, Electronic Special Weapons and Tactics, New Found eXtremes, GRRR Squad and Never Say Die.<\/p>\n
Registrations open today, and close on April 4. The league will then kick off on April 6. All matches will be run of Telkom’s SGS servers.<\/p>\n
Teams will feature 8 players, which is 3 more than is standard in Call of Duty 4. The larger team size is attributed to the massive maps which are featured in Bad Company 2.<\/p>\n
