In terms of spending, SA gamers are willing to fork out money for quality products, much like other markets such as sport.<\/p>\n
\u201cNo cost is too high for gamers to get a good gaming experience \u2013 it\u2019s a flat screen TV, it\u2019s 3D and high-speed Internet and all those things that go with that hobby. The hobby requires intelligence, and intelligence generally means money. If you\u2019re smart, you\u2019re better off. That\u2019s the type of person you\u2019re talking about,\u201d James explains.<\/p>\n
James also gave some insight into the racial demographics of SA gamers, saying that a greater diversity is being seen. In addition, it was also said that PC gamers are shifting to consoles.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve seen a huge growth in consoles over the years, but PC will always be around because it sort of suits the style of the country, like a Wild West type of vibe,\u201d said James.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve always been hard done by here, and we\u2019ve had to make our own way, the PC way, because that was what was available here. Stuff we couldn\u2019t get here, you could get by pirating it before, which is why PC has a stronger foothold here. It\u2019s the same in Russia, where consoles sales are also picking up. The console manufacturers are focusing on our countries, because of the growth in consoles,\u201d said James.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur limitation is bandwidth. Everything is going digital and online and we have a problem here. The masses in the country, who are slowly getting financial freedom and power, aren\u2019t going to have access to 10Mb fibre lines at any point in the near future.\u201d<\/p>\n
James also added that gamers are a tough crowd to please, but will remain dedicated to their hobby.<\/p>\n
\u201c[Gamers] are a very fussy, loyal, brand conscious bunch of people. Once you have them, you have their loyalty. It\u2019s a lot more valuable than advertising to the masses, because these guys are brand ambassadors for you. That\u2019s the level of people we\u2019re talking about, because they\u2019re smarter,\u201d concluded James.<\/p>\n
