Nintendo has released its financial report for the Q1 period of their 2014 financial year, bringing in net profit of 8.62 billion yen ($88 million).<\/p>\n
The company made an operating loss of 4.92 billion yen (about $50 million) on net sales of 81.5 billion yen ($832 million) in Q1.<\/p>\n
In terms of consoles and game numbers, Nintendo sold only 160,000 Wii U consoles, 1.4 million 3DS handheld devices and 1.03 million software units worldwide.<\/p>\n
This puts the Wii U sales on 3.61 million since its launch, under Nintendo\u2019s initial prediction, which aimed to sell 5.5 million units by the end of March.<\/p>\n
One of the most interesting numbers is that the original Wii managed to sell 210,000 units in Q1, which is more than the Wii U.<\/p>\n
Nintendo explained that it aims to boost sales with the release of some first-party games in the second half of 2013, with titles such as Pikmin 3, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD, Super Mario 3D World and others.<\/p>\n
