In an interview with The Escapist<\/a>, CD Projekt  Red’s Tomasz Gop revealed a few new details about upcoming action orientated fantasy RPG, The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings.<\/p>\n

The first big change confirmed is the combat mechanic.<\/p>\n

The rhythmic combat featured in The Witcher is apparently no more. “We’ve dropped the time-based sequences and moved toward letting players make their own style of fighting – sword strikes, combos, magic, using items, a defensive approach, in any order they wish,” said Gop.<\/p>\n

However, if players prefer the combat system of old, they simply need to play on “easy” and it will be enabled.<\/p>\n

Alchemy on the other hand has been simplified according to Gop, but again, there will be the option to get more involved for players who wish to do so. While players will be able to get by fine using the default alchemy system, giving this process more attention will reportedly give players “something unique.”<\/p>\n

One of the more controversial elements of The Witcher was the implementation of Sex. Players could sleep with a variety of women in the game, collecting cards to mark their “conquests.” Although there will still be sex in The Witcher 2, it will be managed differently says Gop.<\/p>\n

“We have redesigned the way we present sex in the game, so that it’s more bound to the storyline and the player feels like each woman Geralt gets close to actually has her own story. No more collectible cards … A cinematic approach is where we’re headed this time.”<\/p>\n

The Witcher 2 is scheduled for release on PC sometime next year. It is also expected to be released on PS3 and Xbox 360, although this has not been officially confirmed.<\/p>\n
