{"id":5826,"date":"2010-04-22T21:55:00","date_gmt":"2010-04-22T19:55:00","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"-0001-11-30T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"-0001-11-29T22:00:00","slug":"ps3-firmware-update-3-30-unpacked","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/playstation\/5826-ps3-firmware-update-3-30-unpacked","title":{"rendered":"PS3 firmware update 3.30 unpacked"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Yesterday <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mygaming.co.za\/news\/ps3\/5822-PS3-330-Firmware-update-details.html\" target=\"_self\">we reported<\/a> that Sony&rsquo;s PSN boss Eric Lempel had announced PSN firmware update 3.30. At the time, Lempel said that the update would be released &ldquo;shortly.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The update is now live, and brings with it a number of new features and interesting tweaks. The most obvious are 3D compatibility and new trophy sorting, but that&rsquo;s not all.<\/p>\n<p>First off, with the new update, the PS3 is now ready for full stereoscopic 3D gaming, which will be more exciting when there are more 3D enabled games available.<\/p>\n<p>The PS3&rsquo;s flash software has been updated and improved which should help with browsing flash enabled websites. An issue that was experienced with certain region-free Blu-ray disks has also been sorted out.<\/p>\n<p>Two new optical audio output settings have been added under video settings; Direct and Mix. Direct bistream sets the audio to transmit the original signal. Mixed bitstream combines the original signal with sound effects such as button sounds, and then converts it to bitstream format.<\/p>\n<p>A new &ldquo;PC remote play&rdquo; feature has also been added. In theory it makes it possible to operate the PS3 using a PC. Unfortunately, the functionality is only compatible with future models of the Sony VAIO PC. More details on this will be released via the official VAIO website next month.<\/p>\n<p>Then there is the updated trophy lists.
