<\/p>\nLANGames’ second monthly LAN took place this past weekend, and was every bit as awesome as the March LAN, but with a significantly higher turnout.<\/p>\n
Durban LAN wizards FRAG were once again on hand, and ensured that gamers were able to take full advantage of the Gigabit network. The general consensus from gamers at the LAN was that it was a truly first class event. Some quotes from a few gamers that attended the LAN, courtesy of FRAG:<\/p>\n
“It’s the best network I have ever gamed on” and “…the best lanning venue in South Africa is the Kopanong hotel and conference venue.”<\/p>\n
Nicely padded chairs, an air conditioned conference hall (not that it was needed this past weekend in Benoni), as well as a dedicated bar and restaurant once again illustrated LANGames’ dedication to making the eXtreme LAN as comfortable as possible. Full time network support provided by FRAG, 4MB\/s shared ADSL, and the aforementioned Gigabit network ensured that gamers had all the tools necessary for a weekend of solid gaming.<\/p>\n
AMD and Sapphire sponsored the event with R30, 000 worth of hardware prizes. The CoD4 competition was the highlight for competitive gamers, but the event also played host to the RISEUP Counter-Strike 1.6 finals.
Super Nova, XP\/BFB, Pantheon and French Gaming all participated in the CoD4 competition, and the final came down to Pantheon and BFB. Once again, Pantheon earned their reputation as a top local CoD4 team by coming out tops.<\/p>\n
Encouragingly, April’s turnout was significantly higher than March’s. Having said that, there is still plenty of room for this LAN to grow, and we are anticipating it becoming one of the biggest LAN’s in SA over the next year.<\/p>\n
