With GTA 5 being the biggest current-generation release this year and what some are calling the \u201cswansong\u201d of the current-gen, the folks at Digital Foundry have lined up the two version side-by-side to see which stands tallest.<\/p>\n
The video has been slowed down 33 percent in order to retain the image quality of both versions and to provide a closer look at the different iterations.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt’s apparent that the PS3 version has an undeniable advantage in one area: even to the naked eye, ground textures on 360 are blurred as a result of what appears to be unoptimised asset streaming,\u201d said Digital Foundry after the analysis.<\/p>\n
\u201cGlitch or not, this basically amounts to concrete and grass textures appearing fuzzier beneath the feet of Trevor, Michael or Franklin, while the PS3 version’s remain crystal clear. The 360 does command a minor advantage in frame-rate during synchronised play, but for shoot-outs and high-speed hurtles down the city streets, the PS3 can sometimes pull ahead in these metrics – though the difference is rarely perceptible either way.\u201d<\/p>\n
To the average eye, the differences are negligible, and if you\u2019ve got the sprawling city of Los Santos, more activities than you can attempt in a day, and a hilarious and action-packed story, then it\u2019s hard to complain about the tiniest detail of visual fidelity.<\/p>\n
GTA 5 released yesterday (17 September 2013) to some stellar reviews<\/a>, as expected.<\/p>\n
