South Africa\u2019s biggest gaming expo, rAge 2013 has wrapped up, and the organisers have released some stats on the weekend\u2019s event, with some interesting details.<\/p>\n
For the attendance numbers, 32,626 gamers moved through the Coca-Cola Dome doors and into the expo and LAN, which is a 13 percent increase over 2012\u2019s attendance number.<\/p>\n
Giant Box Games\u2019\u00a0Pixelboy\u00a0and retrofuture\u2019s\u00a0zx Hyperblast\u00a0were among the games wowing experienced gamers at the Make Games SA stand.<\/p>\n
The NAG LAN saw 2,100 gamers engage and enjoy some great gaming and sharing throughout the weekend. Internet Solutions provided online connectivity and generated with some pretty impressive Internet traffic stats for the LAN<\/a>.<\/p>\n The presence of cosplay of rAge 2013 was strong too, with 87 entrants into the Legion Ink cosplay competition, up from the 70 in 2012.<\/p>\n The Entelect R100K Challenge also took place, which required developers to design an AI program, with Pierre Pretorius winning R100,000 in cash after the gruelling challenge.<\/p>\n \u201cFor all the right reasons I felt that this was one of the best [rAge expos] we\u2019ve ever done,\u201d said Michael James, Senior Project Manager for rAge and editor of NAG Magazine.<\/p>\n \u201cWe addressed many of the crowd control issues from 2012, and had the best Internet any NAG LAN gamer has ever seen. Everyone was happy and, considering\u00a0Friday\u00a0was technically a school day, we still destroyed our previous attendance record. As always, I must thank my amazing, dynamic and awesome team, all the exhibitors and of course everyone that took time out of their busy lives to come to our show.
