Market research company Gfk has released its September 2013 sales charts for the SA physical retail gaming market, revealing the top 5 selling games during the month.<\/p>\n

We now have PC sales data that excludes any Sims 3 titles. Interestingly, Diablo 3 saw a resurgence in popularity on PC, perhaps driven by the marketing campaign for the console versions of the game, and the announcement of the Diablo 3 expansion, Reaper of Souls<\/a>.<\/p>\n

GTA 5 continues its dominance of the console charts. Diablo 3 managed to crack into the Xbox 360 chart, but it doesn’t seem to have much traction with PS3 gamers, where the excellent Splinter Cell Blacklist is clinging to the charts for Sony’s machine.<\/p>\n

Over on the portables, it’s not surprising to see platform exclusives among the top sellers.<\/p>\n

Top selling games in SA by platform<\/h3>\n

Gfk explained to MyGaming to what degree their sales stats represent the overall SA retail market.<\/p>\n

Gfk spokesperson S\u00f3nia Sengupta said they cover around 90% of the SA gaming retail market, and 95% of the SA gaming consoles retail market.<\/p>\n

Gfk does track online retailers, as well as both the physical and online sales of the retailers who have physical and online outlets, said Sengupta.<\/p>\n

The stats presented are gathered on a monthly basis from the retailers with whom the Gfk is in partnership.<\/p>\n
