Sony has announced that as of 13 December, the Playstation 4 is available in 48 countries around the world, just in time for the holiday season. This is versus the 13 countries that Xbox One has reached.<\/p>\n

Sony’s Fredd Dutton announced on\u00a0 the Playstation Blog that the console was launched in sixteen countries, namely\u00a0Bolivia, Nicaragua, Paraguay, Uruguay, Venezuela,\u00a0Czech Republic, Greece, Slovakia, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman and South Africa.<\/p>\n

“PlayStation 4 has been in the hands of gamers in much of Europe and Australasia since 29th November, and today we\u2019re really happy to welcome more countries into the fold. This brings the total number of countries in which PS4 is available to 48, with more to follow later this year and into early 2014,” Dutton wrote.<\/p>\n

“If you\u2019re still waiting, thank you so much for your patience, we are doing our upmost to ensure availability in your region as soon as possible.\u00a0To all those who are picking up a PS4 today, we hope you have a fantastic time with the system. As announced earlier this month, there are over 2.1 million players waiting to show you the ropes, and there are more than 20 titles for you to choose from on day one<\/a>. Remember to share your PS4 experiences with us via #PS4Share,” he also added.<\/p>\n

For comparison, the table below shows the regions where the Playstation 4 and Xbox One consoles are available. Both consoles to date have sold over two million units, but it remains to be seen how much stock they manage to move over the remainder of the holiday season.<\/p>\n
