Oh, remember those halcyon days when games had expansion packs? Now they have DLC. And according to Mass Effect’s lead producer over at BioWare, Casey Hudson, the story bits in between Mass Effect 2 and 3 will be filled in with… DLC. But it’s like expansion packs, remember? You just pay more for it.<\/p>\n
“So, for the time being there’s going to be a continued stream of DLC for people. We’ll start to have packs that’ll tell the story between Mass Effect 2 and 3. But beyond that we kind of have to see how people are responding to what we have and go from there,” Casey tells VideoGamer in a recent interview.<\/a><\/p>\n Since the sequel’s release, BioWare has dropped just the one story-based DLC add-on – Kasumi’s Stolen Memory – which didn’t do much in the way of explaining anything that might be going on between this and the next title. Or anything at all, really. The next premium DLC add-on will be The Overlord, due in June.<\/p>\n Anyone looking out for some sort announcement about the next game at E3 next month is likely to disappointed, however. “It probably won’t be for quite a few months that we talk about Mass Effect 3,” Hudson says. But maybe they’re lying.<\/p>\n In the meantime, though, there’s all the DLC to look forward to. How about one where Commander Shepard learns how to simply remove his helmet during conversations, instead of chucking it for entire missions at a time?
