South Africa is officially listed to compete among 32 teams from around the world for the $1-million prize pool in the 2014 Call of Duty Championship, presented by Xbox, in partnership with Major League Gaming.<\/p>\n
The qualifying matches are scheduled to take place on 22 February and teams may now sign up to compete:\u00a0Call of Duty: Ghosts Rules South Africa Championship Qualifier Tournament<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n Details are sparse, and it is not clear at this point how the the team will be expected to pay their way to the tournament, which takes place in Los Angeles from 28 – 30 March 2014.<\/p>\n Teams will earn their spots through a range of qualifying events, starting with online qualifiers on www.MLG.tv and other sites, concluding with live regional finals across the globe.<\/p>\n According to the press stuff, qualifying matches will be played using Xbox 360 consoles, with the live regional finals to be played on Xbox One and broadcast live on MLG.tv and other broadcast partners.<\/p>\n This should prove an interesting challenge for many of the countries competing, as the Xbox One isn’t ubiquitously available – including South Africa.
