Market research company Gfk has released its November 2013 sales charts for the SA physical retail gaming market.<\/p>\n

The data gives us a look at the top 5 selling PS4 titles in South Africa, including both pre-orders and post-launch sales.<\/p>\n

Of course, it’s still early days for the console in SA, and the limited stock of the PS4 meant not everyone got hands on it at launch.<\/p>\n

Assassin’s Creed 4 was a top seller across all major platforms, and we’re not surprised because the swashbuckling high-seas adventure is an awesome amount of fun.<\/p>\n

As we might expect, the big holiday releases were also prominent across the board, with the likes of Call of Duty: Ghosts, Battlefield 4, and FIFA 14 strong on all platforms, and the indomitable GTA V is still going strong.<\/p>\n

The new running joke is that The Sims 3 and Age of Empires 2 Gold edition seem to be keeping the PC retail market alive.<\/p>\n

Top selling games in SA by platform<\/h3>\n

Gfk explained to MyGaming to what degree their sales stats represent the overall SA retail market.<\/p>\n

Gfk spokesperson S\u00f3nia Sengupta said they cover around 90% of the SA gaming retail market, and 95% of the SA gaming consoles retail market.<\/p>\n

Gfk does track online retailers, as well as both the physical and online sales of the retailers who have physical and online outlets, said Sengupta.<\/p>\n

The stats presented are gathered on a monthly basis from the retailers with whom the Gfk is in partnership.<\/p>\n
