Ster Kinekor Entertainment, distributor of Sony products in South Africa, has confirmed that they will investigate cases of prematurely worn PS4 controllers and will replace them with new ones if still under warranty.<\/p>\n
The company issued a statement to eGamer on the matter:<\/p>\n
“A very small number of users have reported to us that the rubber surface of their Wireless Controller (DualShock 4)\u2019s analogue sticks have torn. Although the rubber material of the analogue sticks fulfils our quality assurance standard, we will inspect individual DuslShock 4 controllers experiencing this symptom, and will replace them with new ones for free as long as they are within the warranty.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
Since the launch of the PS4 in November 2013, reports have been widespread of PS4 remote issues, including sticky triggers, and most notably the easily worn and damaged rubberised analogue thumb sticks.<\/p>\n
The leading edge of the left stick seems particularly prone, and this makes sense considering it’s traditionally used for movement and takes quite a beating during intense games.<\/p>\n\n\t\t
