{"id":62175,"date":"2014-02-25T14:24:03","date_gmt":"2014-02-25T12:24:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/?p=62175"},"modified":"2014-02-25T14:26:26","modified_gmt":"2014-02-25T12:26:26","slug":"ps4-sales-strong-in-japan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/playstation\/62175-ps4-sales-strong-in-japan","title":{"rendered":"PS4 sales strong in Japan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>According to a report on <a title=\"Famitsu\" href=\"http:\/\/www.famitsu.com\/news\/201402\/25048815.html\" target=\"_blank\">Famitsu<\/a> (as translated by <a title=\"Siliconera\" href=\"http:\/\/www.siliconera.com\/2014\/02\/24\/playstation-4-sells-300000-units-opening-weekend-japan\/\" target=\"_blank\">Siliconera<\/a>), the PlayStation 4 has sold 322,083 units so far in Japan, having launched on 22 February 2014.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"DualShockers\" href=\"http:\/\/www.dualshockers.com\/2014\/02\/24\/ps4-finally-selling-out-at-japans-major-retailers-second-shipment-already-coming-tomorrow\/\" target=\"_blank\">DualShockers<\/a> is reporting that large retailers are now running out of stock, such as Amazon Japan, Edion, and Rakuten. Sony Japan is reportedly gearing up to replenish stock on 26 February.<\/p>\n<p>This means PS4 has similar sales figures to the Wii U launch week, which racked up 308,570 units sold.<\/p>\n<p>Both consoles pale in comparison to the PS2, which sold 630,552 units during its first two days of sale back in March 2000, according to Famitsu.<\/p>\n<p>The PS4 is doing better than the PS3, which sold 88,443 units in Japan during its first two days of sale in November 2006.<\/p>\n<p>Last official word from Sony was that <a href=\"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/ps4\/62068-ps4-has-sold-5-3-million-units-worldwide.html\">PS4 has sold 5.3 million units worldwide<\/a>, meaning it already beat their fiscal targets. Sony is expected to announce its full financial results in May 2014.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, the PS4 has zero competition from Microsoft who has yet to launch its Xbox One in the region.
