Nvidia has taken some big strides towards delivering the latest generation of 3D gaming technology to the PC space, brokering deals with a number of large PC manufacturers such as Alienware, Dell, Toshiba and Asus. The company launched three new 3D centric PC’s at the Computex Expo, taking place in Taipei, Taiwan, with Asus CEO Jerry Shen present. <\/p>\n
Details on each of the three devices are few, but so far we know of an ASUS G51JX-EE, a laptop using the Nvidia 3D Vision shutter glasses; the Eee Top ET2400 desktop; and the CD5390 tower PC, running the GeForce GTX 480 with support for three current 3D LCD displays.<\/p>\n
According to the press release, “By definition, a 3D PC is a desktop or notebook PC that meets the following minimum requirements: <\/p>\n
Includes a pair of 3D active-shutter glasses (like the 3D Vision kit from NVIDIA), the only solution to provide full resolution 3D to each eye.<\/p>\n
A 120Hz 3D-capable display in the form of a desktop LCD monitor, a 3D projector, a 3D TV, or a notebook PC with an integrated 3D-capable LCD.<\/p>\n
A discrete graphics processor (like a GeForce GPU from NVIDIA) that is capable of delivering high definition imagery to the 3D display.”<\/p>\n
The press release went on to tout the advantages of 3D, making a few good points, such as the fact that 3D TV and movie content is quickly becoming popular in the mainstream consumer market. Nvidia also claims a library of over 425 games that are compatible with their 3D Vision goggles. The web is also heading to 3D, with YouTube already hosting a number of 3D videos. Nvidia has also been working with Adobe and Microsoft to develop 3D streaming video systems. <\/p>\n
All in all, the future of 3D video gaming is looking bright.<\/p>\n
