Blizzard has announced that World of Warcraft now offers a level 90 character boost for $60 (R648.00), and players can purchase this upgrade as many times as they want.<\/p>\n
The \u201cboost\u201d already comes as a free, once-off bonus if you pre-purchase World of Warcraft expansion Warlords of Draenor. Blizzard decided this was a \u201cgift\u201d players should have access to beyond the expansion.<\/p>\n
“We realised as soon as we came out with Warlords of Draenor boost to 90, we knew that there was going to be demand for more than one. It’s tremendously awkward to tell someone that you should buy two copies of the expansion just to get a second 90. That’s odd. So we knew at that point we were going to have to offer it as a separate service,\u201d said World of Warcraft lead encounter designer Ion Hazzikostas.<\/p>\n
Our question to you, as a gamer, is: should in-game purchases of this nature be allowed? Giving players the opportunity to buy their way to the most powerful characters instead of playing their way there?<\/p>\n
Surely a World of Warcraft player who has spent hours and months levelling up their character, buying the various expansions with the accompanying level cap increases, and paying the monthly subscription fee would be pissed off that some guy with deeper pockets can come in and buy a level 90 character straight away?<\/p>\n
