As with most things in life, size matters in the screen arena too, but other key factors are backlighting (typically fluorescent or LED these days), a good response time (nothing more than 8ms), and a good contrast ratio.<\/p>\n<p>Below is a list of screens that we think would be great for gaming.<\/p>\n<p>We have balanced size, response time, and resolution, and made sure they were all available in South Africa.<\/p>\n<p>Price took a back seat, but fear not, we will have an &#8220;affordable&#8221; screen round up coming soon.<\/p>\n<p><strong style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\">ASUS VG248QE 24-inch LED Monitor &#8211;\u00a0R6,100.00<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Rated highly for its speed by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pcmag.com\/article2\/0,2817,2421205,00.asp\" target=\"_blank\">PC Mag<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.techradar.com\/reviews\/pc-mac\/monitors-and-projectors\/monitors\/asus-vg248qe-1138828\/review\" target=\"_blank\">TechRadar<\/a>,\u00a0this monitor was recommended by both sites for gaming. It scored a relatively low 3.5\/5 overall in both reviews, though.<\/p>\n<p>This screen has a 1ms response time, a 16:9 aspect ratio,\u00a01920 x 1080 resolution, and a contrast ratio of\u00a080 000 000:1 &#8211; R9,500<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This pricey little package fared well in a hands-on review by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.techtree.com\/content\/reviews\/2338\/review-benq-xl2420tx.html\" target=\"_blank\">Tech Tree\u00a0<\/a>and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pcmag.com\/article2\/0,2817,2414795,00.asp\" target=\"_blank\">PC Mag<\/a>, and was awarded 4\/5 by both sites.<\/p>\n<p>Its stats are quite impressive too &#8211; The ultra-high definition screen comes with a\u00a03840 x 2160 resolution, a 21:9 aspect ratio, a 8ms response time, and a contrast ratio of 800:1. Not ideal for gaming, but you would want one for the prestige alone.
