{"id":63655,"date":"2014-04-24T11:59:19","date_gmt":"2014-04-24T09:59:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/?p=63655"},"modified":"2014-04-24T12:03:18","modified_gmt":"2014-04-24T10:03:18","slug":"watch-dogs-gets-a-hands-on-test","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/business\/63655-watch-dogs-gets-a-hands-on-test","title":{"rendered":"Watch Dogs gets a hands-on test"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After Ubisoft invited gaming journalists from around the world to play the opening few hours of Watch Dogs, the reviews from the hands-on test are out.<\/p>\n<p>Watch Dogs&#8217; graphical appearance has been a hot topic, following the release of a game demo trailer in March which looked\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/news\/62525-watch-dogs-then-and-now-a-controversy-brews.html\">&#8220;downgraded&#8221; compared to previous story trailers<\/a> released by the developers.<\/p>\n<p>Ubisoft countered this by releasing an\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/news\/62894-watch-dogs-counters-graphics-gripes-with-new-video.html\">aesthetically improved intro trailer<\/a>\u00a0for the game&#8217;s virtual version of Chicago, as well as a video <a href=\"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/news\/63291-watch-dogs-on-pc-new-video-shows-stunning-visuals.html\">demonstrating the beauty PC gamers could expect from the title<\/a>. Considering the <a href=\"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/news\/63326-watch-dogs-ultra-pc-specs-revealed.html\">gaming rig required to run the game on ultra settings<\/a>, it can&#8217;t afford to look shoddy.<\/p>\n<p>The folks at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.eurogamer.net\/articles\/2014-04-23-does-watch-dogs-deliver-on-its-early-promise\" target=\"_blank\">Eurogamer<\/a>\u00a0were among the lucky few who got to test the opening stages of the game, and delivered the following verdict:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The playground Ubisoft Montreal has crafted is certainly impressive and yet you could still question whether all of this work has gone into the right areas. It&#8217;s not a case of quantity over quality, but a question of whether the game ultimately delivers on its promise of a new kind of open world, a place that wears the label of &#8216;next-gen&#8217; for achieving more than shinier graphics and simple tricks to manipulate your environment.
