{"id":64267,"date":"2014-05-12T09:13:33","date_gmt":"2014-05-12T07:13:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/?p=64267"},"modified":"2014-05-12T09:16:11","modified_gmt":"2014-05-12T07:16:11","slug":"dota-2-international-prize-money-reaches-new-highs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/business\/64267-dota-2-international-prize-money-reaches-new-highs","title":{"rendered":"Dota 2 International prize money reaches new highs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The prize money for the Dota 2 The International 2014 currently stands at $2.9 million (R30,052,700) &#8211; eclipsing last year&#8217;s prize pool of $2.8m.<\/p>\n<p>Valve was able to raise the money through crowd funding by selling the Compendium &#8211; a virtual book which will deliver news on the tournament and allow players to vote on tournament-related matters (such as competitor awards) and lets spectators make predictions on match outcomes.<\/p>\n<p>The Compendium can be purchased from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dota2.com\/store\/itemdetails\/15762?r=d1\" target=\"_blank\">Dota 2 store<\/a> for $9.99 (R103), and it took fans of the game less than a day to buy enough copies to reach the record prize tally.<\/p>\n<p>Dota 2 The International takes place at the\u00a0Key Arena in Seattle, USA, from 18 \u2013 21 July 2014.
