Market research company Gfk has released its latest sales hit list for SA retail, revealing which were the top 5 best-selling games in March 2014. This includes both pre-orders and post-launch sales.<\/p>\n

On PC, it’s no surprise to see the Diablo 3 expansion Reaper of Souls topping the chart<\/a>, and since the base game is required it also had a strong showing. Grand Theft Auto 4 remains popular, likely due to the lack of concrete news regarding a GTA 5 PC port.<\/p>\n

Over on PlayStation 4, Infamous: Second Son was the big title for the month, and as one of the few PS4 exclusives available we’d expect to see it topping the chart. Interestingly, Thief remains popular a month after release despite its lukewarm critical reception<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Top selling games in SA by platform<\/h3>\n

Gfk explained to MyGaming to what degree their sales stats represent the overall SA retail market.<\/p>\n

Gfk spokesperson S\u00f3nia Sengupta said they cover around 90% of the SA gaming retail market, and 95% of the SA gaming consoles retail market.<\/p>\n

Gfk also tracks online retailers, as well as both the physical and online sales of the retailers which have physical and online outlets, said Sengupta.<\/p>\n

The stats presented are gathered on a monthly basis from the retailers with whom Gfk is in partnership.<\/p>\n
