{"id":64483,"date":"2014-05-15T16:40:51","date_gmt":"2014-05-15T14:40:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/?p=64483"},"modified":"2014-05-15T16:42:01","modified_gmt":"2014-05-15T14:42:01","slug":"microsoft-will-refund-xbox-live-gold-subscribers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/business\/64483-microsoft-will-refund-xbox-live-gold-subscribers","title":{"rendered":"Microsoft will refund Xbox Live Gold subscribers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Microsoft has announced that it will refund Xbox Live Gold subscribers who wish to cancel their memberships, after the company said\u00a0it would be <a href=\"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/news\/64347-free-games-with-gold-coming-to-xbox-one.html\">dropping paywalls required to access entertainment apps<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Apps such as Netflix, Twitch, and HBO GO currently require\u00a0an Xbox Live Gold subscription to access.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Once the Xbox One and Xbox 360 system updates become available in June, Xbox Live Gold members who purchased a paid membership before that day can cancel and receive a pro-rata refund of any unused remaining days between the date of cancellation and the date their paid Gold membership ends,&#8221; said Microsoft on\u00a0their <a href=\"http:\/\/support.xbox.com\/en-US\/my-account\/xbox-live-membership\/live-faq\" target=\"_blank\">Xbox site<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Cancellation and pro-rata refund requests must be made by 31 August 2014 and require six to eight weeks for processing. Free or trial Gold memberships are not eligible for a refund.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Xbox owners who want to cancel their subscription can do so <a href=\"http:\/\/support.xbox.com\/en-US\/contact-us?NavigationPath=\/en-US\/my-account\/xbox-live-membership\/live-faq\" target=\"_blank\">through the Xbox site<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Will any of you be cancelling your Xbox Live Gold subscriptions?
