{"id":64535,"date":"2014-05-16T12:19:53","date_gmt":"2014-05-16T10:19:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/?p=64535"},"modified":"2014-05-16T14:45:11","modified_gmt":"2014-05-16T12:45:11","slug":"low-cost-mi-pad-tablet-packs-big-gaming-power","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/hardware\/64535-low-cost-mi-pad-tablet-packs-big-gaming-power","title":{"rendered":"Low-cost Mi Pad tablet packs big gaming power"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Say hello to\u00a0the Mi Pad, which we will go out on a limb and call China&#8217;s version of the iPad Mini &#8211; indeed the company has positioned it to <a title=\"MyBroadband\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/gadgets\/102339-xiaomi-mipad-low-cost-tablet-unveiled-takes-on-ipad-mini.html\" target=\"_blank\">take on Apple and Samsung devices in both price and performance<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The 7.9-inch tablet is the product of a Chinese company called\u00a0Xiaomi, and it is an impressive piece of hardware, packing some serious gaming power (for a mobile device).<\/p>\n<p>Powering the tablet device is Nvidia&#8217;s Tegra K1 system on chip (making it the first Tegra K1 device), which includes a 2.2GHz 4+1 core CPU, a 192-core PC-class Kepler GPU, and 2GB of RAM.<\/p>\n<p>The standard version of the tablet gives you 16GB of storage, but there is a 64GB option available, as well as a microSD expansion slot (128GB maximum).<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_64545\" style=\"width: 610px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Xiaomi-MiPad-Tablet-image-4.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-64545\" class=\"size-large wp-image-64545\" src=\"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Xiaomi-MiPad-Tablet-image-4-600x400.jpg\" alt=\"Xiaomi Mi Pad\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Xiaomi-MiPad-Tablet-image-4-600x400.jpg 600w, https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Xiaomi-MiPad-Tablet-image-4.jpg 960w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-64545\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Xiaomi Mi Pad<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The 7.9-inch screen, which is made by LG or AUO, features a 2,048 x 1,536 resolution over a 4:3 aspect ratio. The Mi Pad boasts front and rear cameras of 5- and 8-megapixels respectively.<\/p>\n<p>The tablet is 8.5mm thick and weighs 360 grams. It comes fitted with a\u00a06,700mAh battery, stereo speakers, and will be available in multiple colours.<\/p>\n<p>The Mi Pad will have the usual Wi-Fi and Bluetooth access, although no 3G or 4G versions of the tablet have been announced as yet.<\/p>\n<p>How much does all of this cost, you ask?
