Dota 2 The International’s prize pool<\/a>\u00a0has reached it latest stretch goal of $6 million (R\u00b162 million).<\/p>\n

The International’s prize pool has broken all previous records<\/a>\u00a0thanks to the sale of The Compendium<\/a> by Valve. $2.50 (\u00b1R26) of every $10 (\u00b1R104) spent on a Compendium goes towards the prize pool, of which Valve put up the first $1.6 million. This means that Compendium sales\u00a0have contributed $4.4 million (\u00b1R46 million) to the prize tally.<\/p>\n

Utilising our basic understanding of maths, we worked out that Valve has therefore pocketed $13.2 million (\u00b1R137.8 million) from sales of its Compendium. Let’s hope that it puts some of that money back into the game.<\/p>\n

Dota 2 The International takes place at the Key Arena in Seattle, USA, from 18 \u2013 21 July 2014. The tickets for the event were sold out in an under an hour<\/a> at the beginning of last month.<\/p>\n
