Grant Hinds is the presenter for GameState<\/a>, South Africa, if not the world’s, greatest online TV Show… He’s stoked that he has Sonic from Xbox LIVE and that he’s getting Kinect. I think that about covers everything.<\/em><\/p>\n

I feel sorry for Sega. They were once the kings of the industry, holding a strong throne, only to be thwarted by Sony in the CD war. So much has happened in the console market since, there are 15 year olds who have no clue that Sega made anything decent, let alone dominated the market with their own console.<\/p>\n

DVD, HD, Motion Controllers and even 3D are now the champs. In what seems like a desperate attempt at a comeback, Sega have released the Sega Zone, basically a 16bit Megadrive with Wiiimic* motion controls.<\/p>\n

I can see how the investors meeting went: “Well, the new Golden Axe tanked. Was probably because the graphics were new. You know, these dumb ‘next’ generation consoles. We need to go back to the Golden days of Sonic. When gaming was really gaming, a time where we owned the market! I know! Let’s release the SAME console, but this time with them motion thingys so’s people think it’s new and stuff!”<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

And voila! The Sega Zone was born.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

The console comes bundled with 50 games, 20 of them classic titles and the other 30 will be new titles. The console is rumoured to be on sale for under R1000 and the likely hood of it reaching South Africa would depend on some Chinese R5 store doing you little favour next time it ships a freight down.<\/p>\n
