To add to the furore surrounding Watch Dogs<\/a>, AMD and Nvidia are having a go at one another over claims that the game does not run properly on AMD hardware.<\/p>\n

AMD\u2019s Robert Hallock started that battle when he said Nvidia’s Gamesworks programme – used by Ubisoft in Watch Dogs – is a “threat” to PC gaming.<\/p>\n

Hallock said that taking part in the programme forces game developers to steer clear of AMD, which is detrimental to gamers using the hardware.<\/p>\n

\u201cParticipation in the Gameworks programme often precludes the developer from accepting AMD suggestions that would improve performance directly in the game code \u2013 the most desirable form of optimization,” he said.<\/p>\n

“This change coincides with NVIDIA\u2019s decision to remove all public Direct3D code samples from their site in favor of a \u2018contact us for licensing\u2019 page. AMD does not engage in, support, or condone such activities.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nvidia has countered these claims, saying that they are “far from the truth”.<\/p>\n

Nvidia director of engineering, Cem Cebenoyan, said his company doesn\u2019t force anybody into confining agreements.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve heard that before from AMD and it\u2019s a little mysterious to me. We don\u2019t and we never have restricted anyone from getting access as part of our agreements. Not with Watch Dogs and not with any other titles,” he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur agreements focus on interesting things we\u2019re going to do together to improve the experience for all PC gamers and of course for Nvidia customers. We don\u2019t have anything in there restricting anyone from accessing source code or binaries. Developers are free to give builds out to whoever they want. It\u2019s their product.\u201d<\/p>\n
