EA UFC arrives in SA for the PS4 on 20 June 2014. There is an Xbox One version available, but most of us will have to wait until September<\/a> to have a go on the Microsoft console.<\/p>\n

The demo of the MMA fighter<\/a> played a lot smoother and looked a lot better than previous iterations of the game, but did this carry over into the fully-fledged version of the title? Let’s found out.<\/p>\n

The PS4 version of UFC was sitting on an average score of 70<\/strong> on Metacritic<\/a>\u00a0at the time of publication, while the Xbox One version raked in an aggregated 77<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

EA Sports UFC is a game capable of brilliance. It’s let down by some curious design decisions, signs of a team perhaps too interested in capturing non-essential moves seen on YouTube rather than nailing the essence of the sport.<\/p>\n

But when it flows against human competition, it offers beautiful destruction and glorious drama. Landing a picture-perfect head kick in the final minute of the fifth round of a title fight? Well, it doesn’t get much better. And if that’s not worth a fistbump, I don’t know what is.<\/p>\n

GamesRadar <\/a>– 3.5\/5 (PS4)<\/h3>\n

EA Sports UFC has plenty of talent; it’s looks amazing and plays fantastically when you’re staging fights with friends. However, when you decide to go it alone, the gaps in AI skill and the dearth of additional content becomes problematic.<\/p>\n

The next time EA accompanies UFC to the ring, we could see a championship effort. This time, unfortunately, it settles for being pretty good.<\/p>\n
