The new Doom game from\u00a0id Software will be called… Doom.<\/p>\n
No number, no suffix, just Doom.<\/p>\n
It’s been 21 years since the original Doom rocked the world with its fast-paced FPS action, and more details have been revealed about the upcoming title at QuakeCon.<\/p>\n
The game is being developed on\u00a0id Tech 6 and will launch for PC, Xbox One, and PS4. The multiplayer aspect is touted as “fast and competitive”, and weapon switching is handled via a radial menu which slows down time when selected.<\/p>\n
One of the game’s producers said\u00a0a double-barrel shotgun, rocket launcher, and rapid-fire plasma rifle will be among the arsenal on offer. If you get shot by one of these guns – or any weapon for that matter – your health won’t regenerate.<\/p>\n
There have also been reports that you can rip the limbs off of enemies, and in one case a demon ripped off a player’s arm and beat him to death with it.<\/p>\n
Oh, and there is a chainsaw, for those who like close-quarter combat.<\/p>\n
The game is set to run in 1080p at 60fps, and the developers have promised a title that will meet “the very high expectations everyone has for this game”.<\/p>\n
I don’t know about you, but I am very excited to beat someone to death with their own arm. Bring on the new Doom.<\/p>\n
