{"id":67097,"date":"2014-07-27T15:18:54","date_gmt":"2014-07-27T13:18:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/?p=67097"},"modified":"2014-07-27T15:22:19","modified_gmt":"2014-07-27T13:22:19","slug":"most-annoying-video-game-phrases","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/features\/67097-most-annoying-video-game-phrases","title":{"rendered":"Most annoying video game phrases"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Video games have gone from jarring synthesised sounds &#8211; think Frogger on the Atari 2600 &#8211; to Kevin Spacey providing his Academy Award winning tone to the latest Call of Duty.<\/p>\n<p>Script writers and voice artists are now commonplace in most games these days, but sometimes the focus on providing audio feedback can become rather annoying.<\/p>\n<p>Some game developers focus too much on a certain phrase, which can become rather annoying.<\/p>\n<p>Needless to say, hearing that over and over again can become rather annoying.<\/p>\n<p>Here are some video game phrases that can become&#8230;<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\">Diablo 3 &#8211; I\u2019m so good I astound myself<\/h3>\n<p>I have been playing my Wizard class since the original Diablo 3 launched back in 2012, and if I had to tally up the amount of times I have heard my character say this, it would probably be in the hundred thousand range.<\/p>\n<p>The phrase is triggered when the Wizard does something great like killing a large group of enemies, destroying objects, or just creating chaos.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/qp24_S_oMiU?rel=0\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\">Dragons Dogma &#8211; Squealing Pawns<\/h3>\n<p>When you create your first pawn you have the option to decide how high or low the voice pitch is for it. I decided to create a very high pitch &#8211; borderline chipmunk. During the game your pawn is somewhat unhelpful, giving you hints during battle, or telling you when there is an item nearby.<\/p>\n<p>The result &#8211; a castrated chipmunk at your side the entire game, that never shuts up. Ever.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/v0x5XIrbyuE?rel=0\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\">Skyrim &#8211; Arrow in the Knee<\/h3>\n<p>It has become a world-famous phrase that&#8217;s taken the Internet by storm. Arrow in the Knee has spawned memes and countless videos, and even received a sweet dubstep remix.<\/p>\n<p>That said, it&#8217;s annoying as hell.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/xapX6haEKCc?rel=0\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\">The Legend of Zelda &#8211; Hey Listen!<\/h3>\n<p>Every Legend of Zelda fan knows about\u00a0the little fairy (Navi) that accompanies you on your quest. \u201cListen, listen, listen\u201d is all you hear from her all the time.<\/p>\n<p>Standing still to answer a text on your phone (not in game), she will think that you are lost and shout \u201clisten\u201d. As cute as it is at the beginning, this get extremely annoying after a while.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/b621HGmGJqA?rel=0\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\">Diablo 2 &#8211; I am Overburdened<\/h3>\n<p>Just when you think you\u2019re on a roll wiping out enemies, collecting loot, and getting to your quest, your character shouts \u201cI am overburdened\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>This normally takes place when you are about to pick up a rare staff or that gem that you have spent ages looking for.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am overburdened\u201d doesn&#8217;t just mean that you cannot carry anymore items, it means that you have to drop everything you\u2019re doing and go to town to sell stuff. Where&#8217;s my town portal?<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/KxnWjyvmpnI?rel=0\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\">Final Fantasy X \u2013 Laugh Out Loud<\/h3>\n<p>I love Final Fantasy X, but the cheesy cinematic where Tidus and Yuna are performing\u00a0that terrible fake laugh makes me mute the TV.<\/p>\n<p>I don\u2019t know if it is the bad voice acting in that sequence or the way the laugh doesn\u2019t sound like its coming from the models in the game, but either way, it is my most annoying phrase\/audio in any game.<\/p>\n<p>Even the other party members think\u00a0it\u00a0is annoying.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/-5FTJxfV3pc?rel=0\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>What&#8217;s the most annoying phrase you&#8217;ve encountered in a game?
