Electronic Arts likes the way Xbox Live Gold and PlayStation Plus operate – so much so that the publisher has launched its own gaming subscription service.<\/p>\n

EA Access<\/a>\u00a0will give you all-you-can-play access to the publisher’s “biggest games”\u00a0– including Battlefield 4, Peggle 2, FIFA 14 and Madden NFL 25 – with EA promising that more games will be added to the list with time.<\/p>\n

At the moment, the service is only available for the Xbox One and costs $4.99 per month.<\/p>\n

EA Access members will also receive a 10% discount on all EA’s digital content, and will be given access to EA releases five days prior to the official release. This “early access” will not provide the full game, though, and only a limited trial.<\/p>\n

Sony – whose PlayStation 4 does not offer the EA service – has said scheme is not “good value”.<\/p>\n

“We evaluated the EA Access subscription offering and decided that it does not bring the kind of value PlayStation customers have come to expect,” said a Sony spokesperson.<\/p>\n

“PlayStation Plus memberships are up more than 200 per cent since the launch of PlayStation 4, which shows that gamers are looking for memberships that offer a multitude of services, across various devices, for one low price.<\/p>\n

“We don’t think asking our fans to pay an additional $5 a month for this EA-specific programme represents good value to the PlayStation gamer.”<\/p>\n
