According to a recent tweet by Steam Database<\/a>, code in Steam alludes to the digital distribution platform expanding into the realm of movies, TV series, and music.<\/p>\n

Tech site Engadget<\/a>\u00a0immediately pointed this out as a move by Steam to rival Apple and Google on the content distribution front, which, with around 75 million Steam users already in their pocket, is a realistic goal.<\/p>\n

Add on the addition of a Steam Music\/Movie Summer Sale, and no doubt they will attract a few iTunes users.<\/p>\n

Engadget did, however, exercise some caution in their reporting, warning readers that the code may be related existing functionality – such as purchasing a game’s soundtrack.<\/p>\n

Let’s hope it’s the former, and we can get our music and movies from Steam quick, easy, and cheap, just like our games.<\/p>\n
