{"id":68066,"date":"2014-09-16T13:54:43","date_gmt":"2014-09-16T11:54:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/?p=68066"},"modified":"2014-09-16T16:09:32","modified_gmt":"2014-09-16T14:09:32","slug":"interesting-xbox-facts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/xbox\/68066-interesting-xbox-facts","title":{"rendered":"Interesting Xbox facts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Most of us have played on the original Xbox (and if not, at least the 360), and even though the console is 13 years old there are a few facts out there you may not know about.<\/p>\n<p>Seeing as knowledge is power, here are some of the more interesting\u00a0facts about the original Xbox, its successors, and the games that came with them.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\">Halo was unveiled as a Mac exclusive<\/h3>\n<p>Microsoft\u2019s popular first person shooter franchise was actually first unveiled as an exclusive for the company&#8217;s competitors &#8211; Apple.<\/p>\n<p>Steve Jobs revealed Halo as\u00a0one of the \u201ccoolest games\u201d he had ever seen.<\/p>\n<p>A year later, Microsoft bought Bungie and swiped Halo for the Microsoft team &#8211; the game is now a leading Xbox exclusive.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Tzrme9yWens?rel=0\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\">The Rock was there<\/h3>\n<p>When the Xbox was unveiled in 2001, people not only got to see the new console, but also smell what the Rock was cooking.<\/p>\n<p>The wrestler-turned-actor was there\u00a0when Bill Gates officially lifted satin sheet off the Microsoft console, and even gave a bit of commentary.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/NnsNASobuDk?rel=0\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\">DirectX-Box<\/h3>\n<p>The Xbox was originally going to be called the DirectX-Box, due to the use\u00a0of DirectX on the console when it was first designed.<\/p>\n<p>After careful consideration, Microsoft decided to drop the &#8220;Direct&#8221; bit. Good choice guys.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/l-VhIMjGh6M?rel=0\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\">One Million Gamerscore<\/h3>\n<p>Stallion83 has the highest Gamerscore in the world, currently sitting at over 1,000,000 points. This is according to the Xbox Avatar store.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/8Sj8FG9z33E?rel=0\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\">Epic wanted more RAM<\/h3>\n<p>Most people\u00a0who got their Xbox 360 during the first 12 months after the\u00a0launch, played Gears of War &#8211; it was one of the the first true \u201cnext-gen\u201d games and it was the beginning of an incredible journey.<\/p>\n<p>The game could have been a complete flop, though, if it wasn&#8217;t for Epic persuading Microsoft to increase the console&#8217;s RAM.<\/p>\n<p>The Xbox 360 shipped with 512MB, double that of its initial offering.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/_ojz7Jd_MKY\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\">Madden was the last Xbox game to ship<\/h3>\n<p>Madden NFL 09 was the last game to release on the original Xbox on 12 August 2008.<\/p>\n<p>Care to share any additional Xbox facts?
