Steam has broken through the hallowed 100 million user mark – an increase of 25 million since it announced user numbers in January 2014.<\/p>\n

And as somewhat of a coincidental celebration, Valve has released an update for the Steam system – titled the Steam Discovery Update.<\/p>\n

Although Valve did not define how it determines “active users”, reaching the 100 million mark is very impressive. Valve also announced that there are over 3,700 games now on Steam, with 1,300 of those game added during 2014.<\/p>\n

In terms of the Discovery update, Valve promises that finding games will be easier and the shopping experience more enjoyable.<\/p>\n

The aesthetic upgrades have been paired with functional improvements, including personalised game recommendations based on your gameplay,\u00a0reviews from your favourite curators, new search tools, and customisable areas in the Steam interface.<\/p>\n

The update also includes the Discovery Queue, a tool which lines up suggested games for you which are set to be released, or have just been released, and allows you to purchase them, add them to your wishlist, or tell Steam you are not interested.<\/p>\n
