We recently featured the new and shiny X99 motherboards<\/a> that hit the PC gaming market, bringing with them the promise of faster processors and RAM for those who upgrade to the new chipset.<\/p>\n

Asus, who has launched a few X99 motherboards of its own at the time, also recently announced its top of the range, ultimate gaming board for those who want to take advantage of Haswell-E processors and DDR4 RAM – the\u00a0Asus Rampage V Extreme.<\/p>\n

Before you read about all its bells and whistles, I must inform you that it costs R7,705<\/a>.\u00a0<\/strong>We wouldn’t want to get your hopes up only to dash them at the end of the article, now would we.<\/p>\n

Asus Rampage V Extreme<\/p><\/div>\n

The board features, as the names suggests, Intel’s X99 chipset which means gamers can slap on a Haswell-E processor – 6 or 8 cores if you wish – and some super-fast DDR4 RAM.<\/p>\n

The Rampage supports up to 64GB of DDR4 3300; Nvidia 3-way and 4-way SLI; AMD 3-way and 4-way CrossFireX; and comes equipped with the expected\u00a0USB, WLAN, Ethernet, Bluetooth, and audio ports.<\/p>\n

The board also features an overclocking panel which shows you real time stats, such as: CPU temperatures, fan rpm, and base clock speeds. The overclocking panel fits into a 5,25-inch bay and includes access to four fan connectors.<\/p>\n
