Ubisoft has taken three of its upcoming AAA PC games off Steam.<\/p>\n
Far Cry 4, Assassin’s Creed Unity, and The Crew are no longer listed for sale on Valve’s distribution platform, with reports stating that Ubisoft has not given a clear reason as to why the titles were removed.<\/p>\n
The Steam vanishing acts follow reports that the three games were pulled from the UK version of the online distribution platform. A\u00a0quick check through my own Steam profile confirmed that the games\u00a0were not available for purchase in SA.<\/p>\n
While on Steam yesterday, I did see Far Cry 4 for sale – so this move has taken place within the past 24 hours.<\/p>\n
According to reports, the move by Ubisoft may be to force more gamers to use its own Uplay store. Both Assassin’s Creed Unity and Far Cry 4 are \u20ac59.99 on the Uplay store, while The Crew is \u20ac49.99. Big releases on Steam normally sell for $59.99 – which means there is a slight price hike if you use a straight currency conversion.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve been in discussions with Valve about Assassin\u2019s Creed Unity but for the time being the game is not available via Steam in the UK,\u201d a Ubisoft representative told PCGamesN. \u201cIn the meantime, UK customers wishing to purchase the game digitally can do so by visiting the Uplay store, our retail partners or other digital distributors.\u201d<\/p>\n
Assassin’s Creed Unity and Far Cry 4 are set to release on 14 and 18 November 2014 respectively. The Crew is scheduled for a 2 December release.<\/p>\n
Maybe we should give Ubisoft a chance – Watch Dogs through Uplay was not that bad, right?<\/p>\n
