Point Topic has released its latest broadband tariff country scorecard, which shows that South Africa performs well when it comes to entry-level broadband pricing. However, it does not rank well with regards to average broadband tariffs.<\/p>\n
Point Topic\u2019s broadband tariff country scorecard compared the entry-level and average tariffs of 2,950 residential broadband services provided by 279 operators in 82 countries in Q3 2014.<\/p>\n
The following chart shows Point Topic\u2019s findings. The countries with the lowest numerical chart ranking are the countries offering the lowest tariffs.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur study shows that Macedonia offers both the lowest entry-level tariff and the lowest average tariff. Qatar has the highest entry-level tariff, while Bolivia has the highest average tariff ranking,\u201d Point Topic said.<\/p>\n
South Africa ranked 18th out of 82 countries for entry-level broadband pricing. This shows that the country has relatively affordable low-end broadband products.<\/p>\n
When it came to average pricing, though, the situation did not look as good. Here South Africa ranked 64th out of 82 countries, which points to expensive average broadband prices.<\/p>\n
