It’s the middle of July, and the Xbox Live Arcade “Summer of Arcade” promo is hotter than a really hot thing during the hottest time of the year. Of course, the whole concept doesn’t really work all that well on this side of the planet, just about wrapped up in glaciers and winter wolves and stuff, but whatever. <\/p>\n
As part of the seasonal launch push, a bunch of games have already released, including Limbo, Castlevania: Harmony of Despair, Hydro Thunder Hurricane, and Monday Night Combat, with Lara Craft and the Guardian of Light dropping next week. Other recent releases include Monkey Island 2: LeChuck’s Revenge Special Edition, Blacklight: Tango Down, and DeathSpank. <\/p>\n
But Playdead’s miserable, creepy platformer is dominating the sales stats, pushing an exceedingly impressive 244 000 downloads in just two weeks, and leading the pack by over 150 000 units. Of course, it’s also touting a 90 average on Metacritic, and we rather liked it too<\/a>. If 244 000 other people, an almost perfect critics’ average, and my own otherwise entirely indisputable authority in all things won’t convince you to drop everything right now and go play this, then you must be dead or something, and I hope you’re stuck in limbo.
