Minecraft <\/strong><\/p>\n

Minecraft <\/a>has made waves of late, thanks to a punt from Valve. The game was originally released for free in 2009 and has since been released in pay-for version as well. Minecraft Classic is still free-to-play, in both single and multiplayer modes. Since the Team Fortress 2 developers mentioned the game on their blog<\/a>, sales of Minecraft Alpha have skyrocketed. <\/p>\n

\"Minecraft\"<\/p>\n

The game itself is a sandbox game in which players can build structures from a selection of differently textured building blocks. There are usually quite a number of populated servers running and it’s fun to see what the players can achieve.<\/p>\n

Minecraft Alpha boasts many more features, such as the ability to craft your own items from resources gathered in the environment and zombie attacks. As the name suggests, it is still in development, with many more features to come.<\/p>\n

The Curfew<\/strong> <\/p>\n

The Curfew<\/a> is set in the always terrifying dystopian future-Britain. You know, the one in which George Orwell was right and the government is terribly oppressive. Well, as the name suggests, it’s 2027, there is a curfew in place and everyone is stuck indoors. <\/p>\n

\"The<\/p>\n

The player takes on the role of a resistance agent who is trying to hand off valuable information to another undercover agent. In order to figure out who this agent is, the player has to speak to a number of characters, and piece together their stories. <\/p>\n

As far as free point-and-click adventures go, this is a pretty decent one, with an interesting story and  high production values. These high production values come at a slight price however, as the game takes some time to load. Be sure you have a fast Internet connection, or be prepared to go make many cups of coffee whilst it loads between areas.<\/p>\n

Hell of Sand <\/strong><\/p>\n

Hell of Sand<\/a> is an old gem that still holds its lustre. It is a sandbox particle physics simulator which gives the player a few tools to mess around with. Streams of sand, water, oil and salt pour from the top of the game area, and numerous other goodies can be added to the mix as well, such as fire, napalm, gunpowder, wax, concrete, and walls. Gravity drives the particles, and with a bit of planning, one can set off a cool domino effect. With no goals to strive for, Hell of Sand is a perfect coffee break distraction.<\/p>\n

Solipskier <\/strong><\/p>\n

\"Solipskier\"<\/p>\n

Solipskier<\/a> is a 2D sidescrolling game. The player has to guide their skier through gates and tunnels in order to accrue points. As the skier moves along so he\/she gains speed and hitting the gates becomes more challenging. Obstacles are slowly introduced to mix things up. Although the premise is simple, the gameplay is highly addictive, and the accompanying soundtrack is perfectly rockin’ – fans of progressive rock guitar instrumentals will feel right at home.<\/p>\n\n\t\t
