EA has announced in its Gamescom press conference that Dragon Age 2 will be released for PS3, PC and Xbox 360 on March 11, 2011.<\/p>\n
What we know so far about Dragon Age 2<\/strong><\/p>\n Players will step into the boots of a human male or female with the surname Hawke. The character is known as “the Champion of Kirkwall”, and he\/she is a refugee who survived the Blight. Hawke will be a voiced character, and the actor has already been chosen. Despite rumours, Hawke is not the son\/daughter of Morrigan from the first game. <\/p>\n The story of Dragon Age 2 will span 10 years, and like its predecessor, it will be a single player game. There will be no “morality meter” as seen in Bioware’s other major current IP, Mass Effect. The dialogue system, however, will be similar to Mass Effect’s, with “paraphrased lines” and “symbols denoting tone.” Once again, there will be AI controlled companions\/followers, one of which will be Hawke’s sister; a mage by the name of Bethany. <\/p>\n The dialogue wheel will have up to 5 “choice” options, and 5 “investigative” options. The combat will remain largely unchanged in the PC version, but the console version will be tweaked to “better suit” the controller. <\/p>\n The story telling of Dragon Age 2 will use a “framed narrative structure.” This means that although the game will take place in a set point in time, players will play through events from the past. When doing so, players will see some of the events from Dragon Age: Origins from a different point of view. The story will be narrated by an in-game character; a dwarf known as Verric who was with Hawke on his travels. Verric is being interrogated by an Inquisitor named Cassandra, who is forcing him to recount previous events with Hawke. <\/p>\n More patches and DLC are expected to be released for Dragon Age: Origins before Dragon Age 2 is released in March 2011 for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.<\/p>\n Bioware intends for decisions made in Dragon Age: Origins and its expansion Awakening to have an effect on Dragon Age 2, and it will be possible to import save games. <\/p>\n \n
