According to research by trend monitors Nielsen<\/a><\/strong>, the reason the PlayStation 4 is outselling the Xbox One is because it has better graphics.<\/p>\n

Who knew that console gamers would care about resolution, right?<\/p>\n

The company asked gamers 13 years and older the reasons they bought their console of choice, and ranked the answers accordingly.<\/p>\n

“Better resolution” was the top choice for PS4 owners, “Brand” for Xbox One gamers, and “Fun-factor” for Wii U owners.<\/p>\n

The top five reasons for each console choice are detailed in the table below.<\/p>\n

The research also showed that Sony not only managed to get PS3 owners to buy its new console, but it also converted Xbox 360 and Wii owners.<\/p>\n

Nintendo had the\u00a0some of the most loyal followers, with 86% of Wii U owners having owned a Wii.<\/p>\n

The table below shows the lifetime console ownership among US gamers.<\/p>\n

For those of you who doubt that the PS4 is beating the Xbox One, the Sony console outsold the Microsoft machine for 10 consecutive months during 2014 alone, according to NPD stats, and since launch has outsold its competitor overall.<\/p>\n
