{"id":73141,"date":"2015-03-08T10:00:15","date_gmt":"2015-03-08T08:00:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/?p=73141"},"modified":"2015-03-08T10:41:24","modified_gmt":"2015-03-08T08:41:24","slug":"what-the-order-1886-did-right","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/features\/73141-what-the-order-1886-did-right","title":{"rendered":"What The Order: 1886 did right"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"line-height: 1.5;\">The success of The Order: 1886 has proven a few things to the industry. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"line-height: 1.5;\">With its 5-hour campaign, deep narrative, and spectacular visuals, it is one of the best titles\u00a0I have played in a while, and I hope that other developers use it as an example of how to make games.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Despite its\u00a0<a title=\"Metacritic\" href=\"http:\/\/www.metacritic.com\/search\/all\/the%20order%201886\/results\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Metacritic score<\/strong><\/a> of 65, The Order: 1886 became the\u00a0top-selling game in the UK for two weeks in a row &#8211; proving that reviews sometimes don&#8217;t matter, as long as the game is appealing.<\/p>\n<p>Why did The Order: 1886\u00a0make such an impact? This is what I think.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/RgJvIak6BpE\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\">No DLC<\/h3>\n<p>The game lacked a\u00a0common feature we see in gaming today &#8211; DLC.<\/p>\n<p>With no DLC it was a solid experience that you paid one price for without the fear of missing out on \u201cvalue added extras\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>This was a breath of fresh air in an industry where season passes have more content than the initial game.<\/p>\n<p>The Order: 1886 did the complete opposite of that: it had two custom costumes that were only available via pre-order incentives.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\">Visually appealing and fast<\/h3>\n<p>The game\u00a0was spectacular to look at and had almost-zero loading times.<\/p>\n<p>The game\u2019s visuals was its biggest weapon against the critics, as everyone found it easy on the eyes.\u00a0I honestly could not tell a cinematic clip and gameplay apart, and at times it was actually the same thing.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/kFJZauFPSA8\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\">The reviews did not matter<\/h3>\n<p>When it comes to PlayStation Exclusives the fans really\u00a0don&#8217;t care what the critics have to say.<\/p>\n<p>Fans still went out and purchased the game, regardless of the reviews that dropped two days before launch.<\/p>\n<p><strong> Critic Scores<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Gamespot &#8211; <strong>50<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Destructoid &#8211; <strong>60<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>IGN &#8211; <strong>65<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Metacritic &#8211; <strong>65<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Game Informer &#8211;
