Les Misérables<\/strong> – play game<\/a><\/p>\n

Les Misérables is the first game in the Enter the Story series of point and click adventure games. The full collection will include adventures based on other literary classics – The Divine Comedy, Hesiod’s Theogeny, A Tale of Two Cities, and The Count of Monte Cristo.<\/p>\n

Les Misérables is a rather complicated narrative as a book, but developer Chris Tolworthy has done a great job of bringing all the various characters and story elements together. <\/p>\n

The player’s task is to save Jean Valjean’s soul, avoid police inspector Javert, rescue Cosette, save Marius’ life, and help many others along the way, thus helping Peri, Valjean’s guardian angel, to earn her wings. <\/p>\n

Visually, the game is rather unique, utilising a sketch-book style mixed with some water-colours. The MIDI soundtrack is top notch and compliments the various scenes nicely. <\/p>\n

Les Misérables is free, whilst the rest of the series can be purchased for US$7.99 (±R58) each, or US$14.99 (±R110) for the set.<\/p>\n

One Button Bob<\/strong> – play game<\/a><\/p>\n

One Button Bob is a platform game in which you only have one control – the left click. Bob is an adventurous type and players will have to guide him through a dangerous labyrinth on his way to fabulous wealth, elixirs of longevity, fame – all the stuff adventurous types seek in life. <\/p>\n

The single click will have bob perform a different action depending on the screen he is currently on. Sometimes rapid clicking will be needed to outrun giant boulders. In other instances a jump length meter is charged by holding down the button as Bob tries to make his way across moving platforms. All along the way, your clicks are counted, so you have self-improvement goals to aim for as well.<\/p>\n

Indie Jones<\/strong> – play game<\/a><\/p>\n

In order to generate exposure and some funds for a documentary titled ‘Everything, by Everyone’  – a film about Newgrounds and the evolution of online entertainment – Indie Jones was created. The game is pretty simple, yet highly addictive – a great game for a coffee break. <\/p>\n

The iconic ‘running away from a giant boulder’ scene from Indiana Jones and The Raiders of the Lost Ark is the basis of the game. The player must collect gems and golden idols as they dodge obstacles and try to stay ahead of the boulder. There are even some achievements for those with Newgrounds accounts.<\/p>\n

Decpict1<\/strong> – play game<\/a><\/p>\n

Depict1 arose from the 2010 Global Game Jam – a competition in which small teams of developers join up to create a game in a limited period of time. Depict1 utilises an interesting concept; a completely misleading guide. Players take on the role of a hooded figure trapped in a ‘cage’ which they must navigate through to freedom. The game requires a combination of platform jumping and some ‘out-of-the-box’ thinking. There are two endings to discover.<\/p>\n

Momodora<\/strong> – play game<\/a><\/p>\n

Momodora is reminiscent of a good old SNES action platform game, right down to the limited number of lives and often punishing difficulty. Momodora is an orphaned girl who has decided to go gallivanting around a labyrinth in search of a rare artefact. There are various baddies that will hinder progress, but there are also a number of weapons and helpful items to discover along the way. A lack of checkpoints may frustrate some, but those in search of an old school challenge need look no further.<\/p>\n
