A recently published Intel roadmap has revealed the timeline for the release of Intel’s CPUs, or at least their “Broadwell”, “Skylake-S” and “Broadwell-E” chips.<\/p>\n

PCOnline<\/a>\u00a0managed to publish a slide from the roadmap demonstrating many of the finer points of the new processors. Intel also plans to introduce “Broadwell Unlocked” processors such as the\u00a0Core i7-5775C and\u00a0 i5-5675C, but this set of chips will be limited to just two models for now. Those, however, aren’t the processors we’re most interested in. We’re here for the big boys.<\/p>\n

What we’re really interested in are the Skylake-S processors, like the immense Core i7-6700K. With 4 cores\/8 threads, a 4.0GHz\/4.20GHz base\/turbo frequency, 8MB of cache, an integrated graphics core and an impressive TDP of 95W, it’s the one to look out for. Following that, the\u00a0Core i5-6600K has 4 cores\/4 threads, a 3.50GHz\/3.90GHz base\/turbo frequency, a 6MB cache, integrated and a similar TDP. Needless to say, both have us salivating.<\/p>\n

These two models will be available during the third quarter of the year. Of course, these chips will come with unlocked multipliers. Along with these two models, Intel will eventually launch another eight models in the Skylake-S CPU range. The CPU range will have features such as increased IA, graphics performance at a much lower power cost than in previous CPU ranges. Best of all, and quite conveniently we might add, the new Skylake-S CPUs will support both\u00a0DDR3L and DDR4 memory which is a great plus, and sweetens the deal.<\/p>\n

Or perhaps you’re interested in the Broadwell-E chips debuting in the first quarter of 2016. These processors will be manufactured using 14nm processor technology, featuring eight cores with high clock-rates.<\/p>\n

Overall, we think there is amazing potential in Skylake-S. We hope to see amazing benchmarks from the CPUs upon their release, and we can’t wait to get our hands on them.<\/p>\n
