{"id":75298,"date":"2015-05-11T23:55:30","date_gmt":"2015-05-11T21:55:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/?p=75298"},"modified":"2015-05-12T10:25:54","modified_gmt":"2015-05-12T08:25:54","slug":"the-price-of-running-project-cars-at-12k-is-absurd-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/features\/75298-the-price-of-running-project-cars-at-12k-is-absurd-2","title":{"rendered":"The price of running Project CARS at 12K is absurd"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After Slightly Mad Studios <a href=\"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/news\/74245-project-cars-will-support-resolutions-up-until-a-staggering-12k.html\">announced 12K support for <em>Project CARS<\/em><\/a>, we\u2019ve been curious about what exactly it\u2019d take to actually achieve those numbers.<\/p>\n<p>After looking into benchmarks of <em>Project CARS<\/em> at standard resolutions as well as what it took to run the game at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.craveonline.com\/gaming\/articles\/627907-ces-2014-pc-with-4-geforce-titans-powers-project-cars-at-12k-resolution-across-3-monitors\" target=\"_blank\">CES 2014<\/a> at 12K using <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.nvidia.com\/blog\/2014\/01\/07\/4k-gameplay-how-fast-can-you-drive-how-about-1-5-billion-pixels-a-second\/\" target=\"_blank\">NVIDIA Surround technology for <em>Project CARS<\/em><\/a>, we\u2019ve come to a conclusion: it\u2019s ridonculously expensive.<\/p>\n<p>But my oh my is it pretty:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/U2-Go96dDZ8\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Rather unfortunately, monitors are excessively expensive in South Africa. The reasons are many, but the gist of it is that you\u2019re going to spend around R30,000 just on the monitors alone.<\/p>\n<p>You can score yourself a 28\u201d 4K monitor, like the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wootware.co.za\/dell-p2815q-28-4k-ultra-hd-led-3840x2160-monitor.html\" target=\"_blank\">Dell P2815Q<\/a>, for around <strong>R8,900<\/strong>. But to get a true 4K experience, you\u2019re going to have to invest a lot more.<\/p>\n<p>You could easily find a R50,000 4K monitor without much effort.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_75328\" style=\"width: 610px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Project-CARS-12K-display.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-75328\" class=\"wp-image-75328\" src=\"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Project-CARS-12K-display.jpg\" alt=\"Project CARS\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-75328\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Project CARS will cost a fortune in monitors alone.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>But what about the rigs required?<\/p>\n<p>Well, as demonstrated by a recent benchmark by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.techspot.com\/review\/1000-project-cars-benchmarks\/page4.html\" target=\"_blank\">Techspot<\/a>, a GTX Titan X is only just enough for 2160p.
