That&#8217;s nostalgia for you.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\"><strong>Castlevania: Symphony of the Night <\/strong><\/h3>\n<div id=\"attachment_75400\" style=\"width: 610px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/PS1-Remaster-Castlevania-Symphony-of-the-Night.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-75400\" class=\"size-full wp-image-75400\" src=\"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/PS1-Remaster-Castlevania-Symphony-of-the-Night.jpg\" alt=\"Castlevania: Symphony of the Night\" width=\"600\" height=\"337\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/PS1-Remaster-Castlevania-Symphony-of-the-Night.jpg 600w, https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/PS1-Remaster-Castlevania-Symphony-of-the-Night-230x130.jpg 230w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-75400\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Castlevania: Symphony of the Night<\/p><\/div>\n<p><em>Castlevania<\/em>, one of the greatest childhood franchises of all time.<\/p>\n<p>Originally released on the Nintendo Entertainment System, <em>Castlevania <\/em>found its way to the PlayStation One in 1997.<\/p>\n<p>Here, it made its debut with <em>Symphony of the Night<\/em>, retaining all of its classic platforming, voice acting and Dracula of course.<\/p>\n<p>Even in the face of supposedly 3D visuals by the competition, the game featured a 16-bit-like art style, but why? Because it still looked great, didn&#8217;t hamper the performance as much, and we wouldn\u2019t want it any other way.<\/p>\n<p>To re-release <em>Symphony of the Night<\/em> would mean keeping the classic core of the game intact, while fixing the horrendous load times and perhaps giving it a new coat of paint.<\/p>\n<p>This would be a remaster for the ages and should even put some of today&#8217;s best titles to shame.<\/p>\n<p>Or perhaps <em><a href=\"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/news\/75332-bloodstained-is-the-castlevania-game-weve-been-waiting-for.html\">Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night<\/a><\/em> is that game, of sorts.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\"><strong>Vagrant Story<\/strong><\/h3>\n<div id=\"attachment_75410\" style=\"width: 610px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/PS1-Remaster-Vagrant-Story.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-75410\" class=\"size-full wp-image-75410\" src=\"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/PS1-Remaster-Vagrant-Story.jpg\" alt=\"Vagrant Story\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-75410\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Vagrant Story<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The last Squaresoft game to release on the PlayStation One and ultimate mash-up of everything Squaresoft had learned during the console&#8217;s life cycle, all wrapped into one.<\/p>\n<p><em>Vagrant Story<\/em> featured a battle system very similar to <em>Final Fantasy XII<\/em>. And its dungeon crawling approach focused on a heavily invested narrative, eerie undertones, many a puzzle and so much more.<\/p>\n<p>You could attack individual body parts in battle, use a number of spell and ability types, and chain together attacks to deal blows of varying effect.<\/p>\n<p><em>Vagrant Story<\/em> was tough, and to make it worse, the lack of frequent save points made this a pretty harsh experience, one that we we&#8217;re probably not accustom to anymore.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\"><strong>Crash Team Racing<\/strong><\/h3>\n<div id=\"attachment_75402\" style=\"width: 610px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/PS1-Remaster-CTR.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-75402\" class=\"size-full wp-image-75402\" src=\"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/PS1-Remaster-CTR.jpg\" alt=\"Crash Team Racing\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/PS1-Remaster-CTR.jpg 600w, https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/PS1-Remaster-CTR-230x130.jpg 230w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-75402\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Crash Team Racing<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Mario might have been the Kart King of the Nintendo, but when <em>Crash Team Racing<\/em>, A.K.A <em>CTR <\/em>landed, he got his ass kicked all the way back to the Mushroom Kingdom.<\/p>\n<p>It was the best kart racer on the PlayStation One, and many still consider it the best kart racer of all time.<\/p>\n<p>Choosing from any of the infamous <em>Crash Bandicoot<\/em> characters, you were placed in the adventure arena allowing you to drive anywhere you wanted, take part in a humorous adventure and unlock races in a number of orders.<\/p>\n<p>Each race would require you to complete three objectives: collect the <em>CTR <\/em>letters scattered around the track, come first, and beat the time challenge.<\/p>\n<p>What made <em>CTR<\/em> so appealing was its easy and smooth driving and its uncomplicated races. It was the ultimate arcade kart racer that anyone could pick up and play.<\/p>\n<p>It had iconic boss races, hidden tracks and a world that paid tribute to the great franchise.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\"><strong>Tomba<\/strong><\/h3>\n<div id=\"attachment_75408\" style=\"width: 610px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/PS1-Remaster-Tomba.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-75408\" class=\"size-full wp-image-75408\" src=\"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/PS1-Remaster-Tomba.jpg\" alt=\"Tomba\" width=\"600\" height=\"417\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-75408\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Tomba<\/p><\/div>\n<p><em>Tomba<\/em>, the pink haired wildling, sets out to stop the Evil Swine, return stolen gold and recover his gold bracelet, given to him by his father.<\/p>\n<p>The game was one of a kind: it merged an RPG quest system with puzzles, platforming, a vibrant world and pigs.<\/p>\n<p><em>Tomba<\/em>, or <em>Tombi<\/em> (depending on the region you lived in), was an adorable young boy with animal instincts and sharp teeth.<\/p>\n<p>He would jump on top of enemies and innocent civilians alike, or otherwise gnaw on their heads, to deal damage. He could use a wide range of weapons like a blackjack, boomerang, grapple and modified versions of them like the ice boomerang and grapplejack.<\/p>\n<p>The game was tough as the platforming required a fast finger, especially when it came to those darn lava caves that you needed to grapple your way through.<\/p>\n<p>The game\u2019s success lead to a sequel called <em>Tomba 2<\/em>, this sequel left the 2D sprite visuals behind and went in the 3D direction whilst still maintaining the original\u2019s platforming and evil pig scenario.<\/p>\n<p>I would give anything to see <em>Tomba<\/em> again; it was my personal favourite PS1 series.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\"><strong>Dino Crisis<\/strong><\/h3>\n<div id=\"attachment_75404\" style=\"width: 610px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/PS1-Remaster-Dino-Crisis.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-75404\" class=\"size-full wp-image-75404\" src=\"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/PS1-Remaster-Dino-Crisis.jpg\" alt=\"Dino Crisis\" width=\"600\" height=\"436\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-75404\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Dino Crisis<\/p><\/div>\n<p>If <em>Resident Evil<\/em> and <em>Jurassic Park<\/em> had a love child, <em>Dino Crisis <\/em>would be the result. The game virtually copied the <em>Resident Evil<\/em> series, but instead of flesh eating zombies, it had flesh eating dinosaurs.<\/p>\n<p>Its point and shoot gameplay was true to the Capcom name. Not only did it carry across the gore, but it really felt like a re-skinned <em>Resident Evil<\/em>, in a good way.<\/p>\n<p>That being said, it was relentless as you faced velociraptors by the dozens and even took on the T-Rex with nothing but a pistol.<\/p>\n<p><em>Dino Crisis<\/em> went onto receive two sequels, one of which released on the PlayStation One. <em>Dino Crisis<\/em>, <em>Dino Crisis 2<\/em>, and <em>Dino Crisis 3<\/em> would make the perfect collection, all bundled into one, don\u2019t you think?<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\"><strong>Final Fantasy IX<\/strong><\/h3>\n<div id=\"attachment_75412\" style=\"width: 610px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/PS1-Remaster-Final-Fantasy-IX.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-75412\" class=\"size-full wp-image-75412\" src=\"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/PS1-Remaster-Final-Fantasy-IX.jpg\" alt=\"Final Fantasy IX\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/PS1-Remaster-Final-Fantasy-IX.jpg 600w, https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/PS1-Remaster-Final-Fantasy-IX-230x130.jpg 230w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-75412\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Final Fantasy IX<\/p><\/div>\n<p>We all know how great <em>Final Fantasy VII <\/em>was, but I have to say that without a doubt <em>Final Fantasy IX<\/em> was so much better. Maybe I am just one for a more classic fantasy than that of the mechanical take on <em>Final Fantasy VII.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Final Fantasy IX<\/em> saw Zidane and co. set out on a journey to stop the Queen Barhne of Alexandria from summoning the Eidolons and destroying the realm. Later on we discover that the real enemy is Kuja, an extremely feminine male that is as evil as he is fabulous.<\/p>\n<p>The lush world of Gaia was a thrill to explore, the soundtrack was as true to a <em>Final Fantasy<\/em> title as ever, and the cast was one of the strongest in the series, Vivi, &#8217;nuff said!<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\"><strong>Honourable Mentions <\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Breath of Fire III<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Chrono Cross<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Chocobo Racing<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you had to have any PlayStation One title remastered and in all of its glory once more, what would it be?
