We’ve already established that gamers are willing to spend inordinate amounts of money<\/a> on rare collector’s editions of their favourite games.<\/p>\n

But a collector’s edition needn’t be rare to justify a higher-than-average asking price; it just needs to contain something worth having \u2013 an item you might otherwise call “bitchin’<\/strong>“.<\/p>\n

So we thought we’d dig into the list of upcoming games and show off a few of the best and shiniest collector’s editions you can expect.<\/p>\n

Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst Collector’s Edition<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst – Collector’s Edge<\/p><\/div>\n

Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst<\/em> revolves around Faith’s past, who she was before the events of the original Mirror’s Edge<\/em>.<\/p>\n

We couldn’t think of a cooler way to present that than that 14″ past and present figurine. Faith is either leaning against a window, as is she as a child, or it’s a mirror \u2013 either or works for us.<\/p>\n

Toss in the standard steel book, a nice looking packaging and a few more things besides, and you’ve got a worthwhile collector’s edition.<\/p>\n

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain Collector’s Edition<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain – Collector’s Edition<\/p><\/div>\n

Exclusive digital content, a map of the game’s world, steel book and snazzy looking packaging are all well and good, but that’s not what MGS V’s<\/em> collector’s edition is about.<\/p>\n

What you’re really buying this version of the game for is that robotic arm replica. It looks great, and would stand out in any nerd’s home.<\/p>\n

It’s about as close as we’re going to get to an actual robotic arm \u2013 at least for now.<\/p>\n

Just Cause 3 Collector’s Edition<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Just Cause 3 – Collector’s Edition<\/p><\/div>\n

Just Cause 3<\/em>, like Just Cause 2<\/em> before it, is defined by its grappling hook, so what better item to include than a replica of exactly that?<\/p>\n

Actually, that’s not quite true. Explosions (more lovingly pronounced ‘splosions) are about as important to Just Cause<\/em> as Rico’s grappling hook is, but we’re not sure packaging explosives or the aftermath of one (that is, a fiery inferno) into a collector’s edition is feasible.<\/p>\n

You also get a concept art book as well as a map, which are cool too.<\/p>\n

Halo 5: Guardians Limited Edition Collector’s Edition<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Halo 5: Guardians – Limited Collector’s Edition<\/p><\/div>\n

A very limited release indeed, this is limited edition collector’s edition for Halo 5: Guardian<\/em> contains one of the best figurines we’ve seen in a while \u2013 and we own The Witcher 3’s<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The packaging is also really wicked, but let’s face it, that Master Chief and Spartan Locke figurine makes everything else in that collection look pretty mediocre.<\/p>\n

Even the Guardian model pales in comparison.<\/p>\n

Fallout 4 Pip-Boy Edition<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Fallout 4 – Pip-Boy Edition<\/p><\/div>\n

We’ve talked Fallout 4’s<\/em> Pip-Boy Edition to death already<\/a>, so we won’t repeat ourselves.<\/p>\n

But do we really need to tell you that the main attraction to this collector’s edition is a working replica of a Pip-Boy? Thought not.<\/p>\n

It’s perhaps one of, if not the, coolest collector’s editions ever.<\/p>\n

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 Juggernog Edition<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 – Juggernog Edition<\/p><\/div>\n

It’s strange, but one of the biggest attractions to the current Call of Duty<\/em> games is the zombie mode, particularly in the case of the Black Ops<\/em> titles.<\/p>\n

So it’s weird that so few of the collector’s editions for the franchise dedicate themselves to ZOMBIES!<\/p>\n

This Call of Duty: Black Ops 3<\/em> Juggernog Edition’s special ability ‘Juggernog Mini-Fridge’ is just plain rad.<\/p>\n

The other extras are nice too, but we want that fridge. Actually, do you think we could find a fully sized one for our office?<\/p>\n
